This page contains a few Ken Ward photos of the flats which flanked the eastern half Argyle Street on both sides. Whilst it was an inaccurate description, most people referred to the whole area as "School Street Flats".
It is difficult to have any postive reflection on them now as they replaced a thriving community of traditional working class houses with a soul-less concrete jungle. However, they were built as part of a huge campaign to provide modern housing (bathrooms, central heating etc.) in the 1950s and 60s.
